I’m writing to keep you updated on the current Match Officials courses which are running in the North West through to the end of the year.  

There are two courses currently running, the Foundation Course (13 a side laws) and the Mini/ modified Games course. 

Foundation Course (13 a side laws)

A one day course (or over two nights) which covers the laws of the games through the use of practical drills, theory exercises and video clips, the course is concluded with a video exam on the laws of the game. The cost of the course is £25 for 18’s and over and £12.50 for Juniors (12 to 17) to apply candidates need to complete the attached application form and return to the address on the form with payment or contact Peter Brooke on peter.brooke@rfl.uk.com or Bob Smithies on bob.smithies@rfl.uk.com .

Dates for the courses are;

Course will run between 9:15 – 16:00, unless an evening course on the Wednesday nights which will be 19:00 – 21:00 with no practical.

The mid week courses are ideal for teachers and fill up quite quickly.

Mini Modified Games Courses

This is an evening course running between 19:00 and 21:00 and covers the rules for the game for under 12’s and below. The course concludes with a short exam on everything covered in the evening.

These courses are nearly full so urgent application is recommended.

The opportunities for officials once they have completed these courses are excellent, we have had really high number of officials who have progressed this season alone onto both refereeing and touch judging at Academy level and beyond to First Team! Our Junior Match Officials squad for the Champion Schools Finals at Wembley has also been the toughest contested yet.
