The Management Committee's of both the NWC 13-15 ARL and NW Youth Leagues have tonight issued the following statement regarding the proposed Under 16 scholarship game due to be played on Wednesday 10th April 2013 between Warrington and Salford
After numerous pieces of correspondence with the RFL Performance Department regarding the proposed Under 16s scholarship game due to take place next Wednesday, 10th April between Warrington and Salford, the management of both the NWC 13-15s league and the NW Youth League, are instructing ALL our teams who may have players involved in this game that they must tell their players that on this date, their priorities MUST lie with their Community Club. Players are also committed to playing for their Community Club on Sunday April 7th, despite information we believe has been passed on to them to the contrary.
We understand that players are often swayed by the information passed on to them by their professional club, however this has been done with the knowledge of the staff in the Performance and Coaching Department who advised the leagues of the following:
"I believe you are within your rights to advise your community clubs that the community calendar takes precedence on this occasion as the scholarship game takes place outside the agreed playing windows for pro clubs. I’m also attempting to get both clubs to select a predominantly U16 side, therefore limiting any potential disruption to the planned community fixtures".
Whilst there are no games scheduled for any under 16s, other than division 3, on the 10th April, there is a full programme at under 15s.This directive will also affect all teams who have Warrington or Salford scholars playing on Sunday 7th April
No teams will be allowed to postpone a scheduled game on the 10th April.
If there are any repercussions from this then please advise both Hilary and Jackie (under 16s) and Jackie and Margaret (under 15s) by email and we will take this up with the appropriate staff.
